The Project

Concrete is the second most used material after water in the world with 6 Billions of m3 produced every year. It represents 190 m3 every second.

40% of the produced concrete is used in accomodations. Otherwise, it is used in every infrastructures from bridges (Millau Viaduct) to skyscrapers' foundations (Burj Khalifa).

During a visit of La Cité Radieuse in Marseille, we noticed cracks in its infrastructure. So this icon of concrete by Le Corbusier is vulnerable ? Indeed, as every material, concrete undergoes an aging process, here it is carbonatation. Civil engineers would normally destroy the building to create a new one, a matter of ease. But how dare we thinking about destroying such a famous building ? We are adressing a real problem.

HOW CAN WE PRESERVE A REINFORCED CONCRETE INFRASTRUCTURE AND SLOW DOWN OR STOP ITS DEGRADATION ?
